Wicked Ol Moon
02:40
|
|||
Grab your holy water! Grab your stake! Life is cheap, you only keep what you can take, and, honey something ain't right with that wicked ol moon tonight.
Grab your torch and, honey, light that pyre! tonight we're gonna set the woods on fire. Honey, something ain't right with that wicked ol moon tonight.
The good lord giveth and he taketh away. Why put off till tomorrow what will bite your ass today? Kill the head and the body will die. So, go and grab your axe! Tonight, we're tearing down the sky!
Grab your shotgun and shoot to kill! We're doing devil's work so God can foot the bill. Honey, something ain't right with that wicked ol moon tonight.

Mama
02:13
|
|||
Well, she stays out drinking in the big, big city, comes home at the break of dawn. Cold as ice when I wake up in the morning, just a shadow when I come home. And she only wants to see me just to tell me she don't need me. Mama, what do I do now?
None of the neighbors even know her name, but they know it at the local bar. Brings me coffee when I ask for tea, has my manhood in a mason jar. And she only wants to see me just to tell me she don't need me. Mama, what do I do now?
I can't take none of her berating, got me feeling bout 2 foot tall. She leaves me waiting at the old train station, doesn't even take my calls. And she only wants to see me just to tell me she don't need me. Mama, what do I do now?

Black Train
03:52
|
|||
I was born in darkness on a warm spring night. Dropped into the middle of a firefight. Left alone on my own to die. 25 miles to the county line.
Oh! Lo! the Black Train come. Pushing through the bramble, come to carry me home. Bury my body, but my soul flies on. Black Train coming for to carry me home. That Black Train is a coming for to carry me home.
My pappy never worked a day in his life. Lived by the gun, and he died by the knife. Blame the state if I ain't raised right! 15 miles to the county line.
I guess I could have slaved every day of my life. Bought a couple acres, maybe found me a wife. It's the American dream, but it sure ain't mine. 10 more miles to the county line.
I shot a man in Dallas, dropped his body in the pines over $15 and a bottle of wine. They'll string me up for my wicked crimes. 5 more miles to the end of the line.

Carolina
03:01
|
|||
Carolina, my home. Where did you go? Where did we go so wrong? Carolina, my babe. I won't be coming round, coming round no more.
You knew me like I'm supposed to be. I got all wrapped up in you, like you did me. Baby, I love you so. I just cannot let go tonight. I need you right...right here by my side.
And I'll meet you back, back where we belong. On that rustic hill where I buried your bones. With a pack on my back, I'll read you your last rites, as we watch it vanish in flames tonight.
Violet flames in the eyes of a fox. That sun shining on a field of green.
Wild fires on the hillside! They burned down my beautiful dream!

Lost At Sea
04:13
|
|||
Darling, I have never been so sure of anything. You mean everything. Let the wind and rain come, the fire in my heart will emanate and keep you warm.
For a lifetime I have wandered blind, in my darkness, ever lost in night. Now you have found me. Your light surrounds me. I feel the coming of the dawn.
I've never been one to show my hand too soon. I see life changing in your eyes, like flowers bloom. I've been so long at sea, the warmth is just a memory, and I think it's time to bring this boat to shore. So, if you'll have me, love, I'm yours.
I lost my way some time ago. I can't remember when I turned. Now you're inside me, the voice that guides me, the star that lead me to your door.

Smell of Trees
03:40
|
|||
Fragile flower and faun. Gentle kiss of dawn. The silence of the evening coming down. Take what you want from me, but leave the smell of trees still floating on the breeze. Unveil my eyes. I've spentt enough time dying. Tragedy has never been a friend worth keeping.
And we all fall into the same traps, baited with the best of intentions. Again and again, we all fall for less than pleasant motivations, tripping and dragging us down.
I've bled all I can lose. Volunteered abuse. Suffered aggravation, in the hope of finding clarity, through self made misery, to fuel my constant need to feel alive, and offer admiration and empathy to those souls who have lent affections.
Carrying the load ain't bad when the weight is all you know. Sleeping in the dirt don't hurt when you've got no place to go. Just remember all the little things that wait for you outside your bedroom door.

Where Have You Been?
02:18
|
|||
I'm sitting here just wondering, dear. Where have you been all of my life? Isn't it clear what's happening here? I'll be your man for the rest of my life.
I met you on a Sunday. Fell in love on Monday. By Tuesday, I thought I could do you no wrong. Got drunk on Wednesday. I was high on Thursday, and by Friday, you were gone.
Passing in the night such a perfect encounter. The future looks so bright as a silent actor. A single moment in time for us to capture. Two souls absolutely free, with no master. So take my hand, dear, and let's run away.
I woke up next Sunday. I cried all Monday. On Tuesday I begged you all day long. I gave up Wednesday, but I wrote all Thursday, and on Friday I sang you this song.

Breath Control
04:47
|
|||
I've spent so long waiting for the right time, now I'm not coming home. I'm not lying when I say I'm not alone. And as the cold day births the night time, I'll shake you to the bone to pacify my passenger.
It's not enough. It's not enough to say you love me. It's not enough. No! No! No! it's not enough. I want to steal the air from your lungs. I want total breath control until the sun comes up my love.
I feel that darkness creeping in again. It chills my racing heart. My violent tendencies will tear us both apart. A sweeping sickness washes over me. The fuel that feeds the spark, as I navigate your body in the dark.
I want you to meet me darker side, so step right up! Come meet my Jekyll and my Hyde. They want to rip you up!

Back To The Wall
04:52
|
|||
Let's get together one last time. We'll smile and pretend that everything's fine. I'll cringe through your small talk and laugh at your jokes. I'll trip on my words and you'll talk til you choke. And if you should die, well, it's for the best. I'll leave a cheap quote for the curious press. No one will remember that you were here. No one will notice, nor shed a tear for you.
Goodbye to you, and fare thee well. I've got a feeling I'll see you in hell. And, as the light fades on you, who will you run to? Just die with your back to the wall.
Let's bite the bullet, dear old friend. I've got a feeling this is the end. So, I'll keep my poetry, you keep your gold. You weakened your will. while I strengthened my soul. The scene may have changed, but the act is the same. You may have the drive, but you don't have the brain. No one will remember the words that you write. The meaning is lost when the lyrics are trite.

Haircut
02:41
|
|||
All my life I've been living lies. I've been caught up in them spiderwebs. You might be dead and gone. It might be a long time til I see you again.
Well, I can't walk the line without you by my side. And that devil whispers in my ear. When I hear that voice chime in, I realize I can't go down that road again.
As that sun shines down, down upon my face, I've never really felt the warmth of it's rays. Home's always just been a place where I can store my things and I can lay my head.
Most of my life I've been getting high. I've been on my own just wandering. I've been running around with my face down in the ground, time and time again.
